I've started this section as I believe it time to expand the wiki to inlude all game related file formats.
I didn't even realize this page exists. :-)
We may need a new namespace for this as well (Game Resource Format? GRF?).
Anyway, it seems to me that the system proposed on this page (type separation on a single game page) does not match the one currently used, where each format is stored in its own Wiki entry.
Also, all the GRAF (not GRF) pages should be transferred to the GRAF namespace, methinks?
Finally, we need to think of a njaming convention for items that belong to the GRF. I've made a preliminary example. with the PICT format, but any ideas?

I believe that we should work on writing a new SpecialPage for adding new formats to the WIKI, while we set up the new system. As for what you've said above, I've long had the intention of keeping the WIKI open to the addition of any new format, so long as the person who adds it is the one to maintain and update it...
Indeed. I think the problem can be solved by correct use of page tags and clever tabling. This way you could create any table order (i.e. per game, platform, or file format). If a format page is tagged with "Game File" for instance, and with "Texture" and "Game Name", it should be possible to have this page list all those pages that have the Game File tag and sort by type or name. Correct, Dinoguy1000? --[[User:Mr.Mouse|Mr.Mouse]] 03:24, 23 August 2007 (CDT)

As far as another namespace is concerned, I think it may be wiser in the long run to name it relating to the fact that it can be used for ALL file formats other than GRAFs, rather than just limiting it to other game formats. As for the GRAF section, I intended it to be used for the GRAF pages when I asked you to make it. ;)
Hmm... If I'm reading that right, it would be possible by importing Wikipedia's "sortable" class for tables, which uses JavaScript to allow sorting by table column. However, it could lead to some weird stuff when sorting by format, since all the formats for a given game are grouped together. The long-term solution would be the MediaWiki extension I've been fantasizing about for awhile now (one that someone will have to write). {{:User:Dinoguy1000/Signature}} 16:31, 27 August 2007 (CDT)

Last, for the naming conventions, I'd think it would be a safe bet to use the same ones as I've set up for GRAF pages (see [[Adding a format|here]]), at least until the need for a new or improved system presents itself.

P.S. perhaps we should move this discussion to the Village Pub?
