I didn't even realize this page exists. :-) Anyway, it seems to me that the system proposed on this page (type separation on a single game page) does not match the one currently used, where each format is stored in its own Wiki entry.

Indeed. I think the problem can be solved by correct use of page tags and clever tabling. This way you could create any table order (i.e. per game, platform, or file format). If a format page is tagged with "Game File" for instance, and with "Texture" and "Game Name", it should be possible to have this page list all those pages that have the Game File tag and sort by type or name.
